Join the Keene YPN as we serve up dinner at the Keene Community Kitchen. We have been volunteering at the Community Kitchen for a year now and in 2012 we continue to serve (in more ways than one) We need 5-6 people each time. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to better understand more about our community and the great organizations that serve people in need. So come, serve, eat, and meet new people and see a different side of Keene while giving back.   If you’re interested please RSVP and contact Jess O’Connor (Jessica@mds-nh.org) if you have not filled out the “Purple Forms” so we can get them to you before the event.

Rotary Clubs in New Hampshire and Vermont are sending 1 Rotary Member and 4 team members to Dominica (Dominican Republic) in the Caribbean, at no cost to the participants.  Team members need to between 25 to 40 years old, working or not in their profession for 2 or more years (currently employed or not), and willing to learn about their profession in another country.  We leave September 21, 2012 for a month.  Rotary pays for all airfare.  All participants stay and eat with Dominican Rotary members.  Your costs may be personal incidentals that you may incur on this trip.

Dominica shares an island with Haiti, but is quite different in many respects.  It is a democracy, stable, and comfortable.  The beaches are black (from volcano ash), and the sea is the wonderful is warm aqua blue. In the waters off Dominica, sperm whales come to calve in the fall.  Whale watching is an opportunity, as well as visiting mountain lakes, original Carib Indians, and just sitting watching the seeming impenetrable jungle.  Of course, you will learn another culture and represent the United States.

The Sustainability and Social Justice Committee and the Support Group for Ethnic and Racial Diversity at AUNE are organizing the event.

Members of the community as well as AUNE students and employees are encouraged to volunteer. Please sign up ahead of time if you can. For more information or to sign up, contact serd.ane@antioch.edu. You can also come to AUNE from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Day of Service to volunteer.

Cobblestones is located across from Cumberland Farms on Main Street.  We get started at 5:30.  There will be drink specials and a selection of appetizers provided.  Keene YPN is growing, come and be part of the success!

We will start off at Cobblestone at 7, then off to Lab n’ Lager, followed by Kilkenny’s, then to the brand new Pour House, and finishing the hike up Main Street with Tony Clamatos. We will have drink deals along the way, plenty of laughs, and rides home available at the end of the night… you won’t want to miss this event! Signups will be available at the May social event, as well as by talking to a member of the KYPN social committee – Mike Giacomo, Andy Dugrenier, Julie Jungwirth, Alex Ryysylainen, Pete Thompson, or Sofia Cunha-Vasconcelos
