KeeneYPN received a request for volunteers from the Monadnock Humane Society – they have three events that they need help with. Please contact the community committee if you’re interested in helping out at any of these events and/or recruiting other KYPN members to assist.

MHS Volunteer Needs
MHS desperately needs volunteers for three pivotal upcoming fundraising events described below. Additionally, the Society always needs volunteers to support daily operations in areas such as Administration, Facilities/Yard Work, and/or Animal Care. Please consider volunteering either for one or more of the events or in the daily operations. Even a few hours of your time will make a huge difference in the lives of the animals!

Event 1: The Walk For The Animals
Event Date: Sunday, September 25, 2011 11:00am – 3:00pm
Location: Monadnock Humane Society, Swanzey, NH
Event Description:
The Walk for the Animals is an annual fundraising event that features a 1/2 mile walk through the grounds and walking trails of the Monadnock Humane Society. Additional event activities include canine agility demonstrations, children’s activities, miniature horses, face painting, pony rides, food, and the Mutt Minster Dog Show. Volunteer Needs: (Approx. 10 volunteers needed)
● Set-up help on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday morning, Sept. 25
(Possibly also on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 – depending on weather)
● Volunteers to manage the different booths during the event
(Registration, Various Games, Food concessions, etc.)
● Volunteers to manage parking
● Tear-down and clean-up help on Sunday evening (Sept. 25) after the event is finished
Event 2: The Hair Ball
Event Date: Saturday, October 29, 2011 6:00pm until Midnight
Location: Hidden Hills Banquet Facility in Rindge, NH
Event Description:
The Hair Ball is one of the largest annual fundraising events for MHS. The event is black tie optional and features a celebratory evening of great food, fun, dancing, and both a live and silent auction of exciting items like trips, jewelry, artwork, etc. that are donated by businesses and community members throughout the region. This event was voted the Best Charity Event in the Best of Monadnock 2011 Award!
Volunteer Need:
● Set-up help before the event – on Friday, Oct. 28, or Saturday, Oct. 29
***Additional longer-term creative volunteers needed***
● Creative writer to manage development of item descriptions and layout of the event brochure
● Hair Ball Committee Volunteers to participate in event development & planning
Event 3: Pancake Breakfast
Event Date: Sunday, May 13, 2012 (Mother’s Day) 7:00am – 11:00am
Location: Monadnock Humane Society, Swanzey, NH
Event Description:
The Pancake Breakfast is a new fundraiser designed to increase awareness of the organization and facility amenities as well as raising much needed funds. Just as the name indicates, the event features a Mother’s Day pancake breakfast.
Volunteer Needs: (Approx. 10-12 volunteers needed)
● Set-up help on Saturday, May 12, and Sunday morning, May 13, 2012
● Volunteers to greet, seat, and serve attendees and cook and clear during the event
● Volunteers to manage parking
● Tear-down and clean-up help on Sunday afternoon (May 13) after the event is finished
